About Hartford Water Softener Co.
This site exists for one city's water: very hard, pumped from five shallow wells, and described by two official figures that do not agree. Here is who runs it and how the work is divided.

Hartford Water Softener Co. is a trade name of ZeroGrain Water LLC, a Wisconsin company.
We handle four things: the quote over the phone, sizing the softener, providing the equipment and scheduling the work. The hands-on installation goes to a licensed Wisconsin plumbing contractor, since Wis. Stat. ch. 145 treats a softener's drain connection and its air gap as plumbing.
Left to others
Selling at a Hartford kitchen table, for one. The price is settled on the phone, and the only person who comes to the house is the plumbing contractor, on install day.
Wells themselves, for another: drilling and well service are not part of what we do, in the city or out in the Towns. Nor is anything for bacteria or nitrate, which a softener is not designed to treat; the yearly bacteria check the Wisconsin DNR recommends for a private well belongs with a certified lab.
What makes Hartford's water its own case
Hartford's water comes with details a county-wide page would skip. The sewer utility publishes 18 to 22 grains and asks residents to reset their softeners to 20, the state's 2026 well samples read about 23 to 26, and the water utility's annual report lists no hardness at all.
The site covers the City of Hartford, the Town of Hartford, the Town of Erin and the Town of Addison. In the city, a quote starts from the published figures; in the Towns, a house on its own well starts from its own lab report.
